Velux produce a number of different styles of roof light windows and ranges. They are simple, quick and safe to install and enhance the look to any roof. They have a variety of internal finishes and all Velux products are compatible.
We work with clients in the private sector and the commercial sector providing our services for those who suffer the aftermath damage a storm can leave behind. The size of the damage large or small we will be there to put things right and make thing watertight again
Recessed / Standard installations
The new generation of Velux roof windows provide two in number installation height levels.
These are:
If you choose the recessed installation it will provide you with a slender streamlined look that sits 40mm deeper into the actual roof timbers enhancing the appearance and assisting many creative architects with an inflated flexibility to enable a greater design.
Our recommendation would be to always fit the recessed option with the correct flashings, as not only does it enhance the look to any roof but when installed using the correct recommended insulation collar it will save energy saving you money at the end of the year.
Always use the correct flashings
A Velux roof window requires an external flashing to be installed correctly to ensure it remain watertight. Always order the right flashing for the Velux window you have to install. These flashings are specifically designed and precisely made to fit a particular model of Velux window sealing the window and draining access water and making a watertight surround between the roofing fabric and the window itself.
The choice must be specific to your requirements, or compatible with the window and the roofing fabric you have on your roof so ensure you do your homework and know what your roof is made from.
Extra protection & insulation
When deciding what design of roof window to run with just step back and think about energy efficient. We all nowadays love that word as everything is changing to energy efficient such as light bulbs. Well it’s the same now for roof light windows. Our recommendation would be to choose a BFX pleated under felt collar to maintain flexibility and a watertight seal between the window frame and the roofing material or under felt. The frame insulation product BDX would be our recommended choice to marry this set up correctly. This frame will maintain the correct insulation between the window frame and the roof timber construction material.
Superb Interior Finish
When finishing off the internals of your room it is our recommendation to use Velux linings every time to enhance the internal finish of the room.
Our choice of prefabricated linings would be:
These linings have sharp lines to give a modern feel and finish. They are fabricated from materials designed to be moisture resistant and moisture repellent and finished in white. This design enables enough space to have more insulation fabric to stop any updraft thermal connections. You can use the LSG Velux kit, which is a cheaper option and forms an excellent basis for shaping an internal plasterboard lining. Again this design also enables enough space to have more insulation fabric to stop any updraft thermal connections. All linings and kits supplied by Velux come with a vapour barrier collar BBX that prevents any condensation and is 100% vapour tight.
